The Turkish art, which can be traced over a period of more than three thousand years and spread over a wide geography, has been trying to be introduced with the increasing number of studies in the last century. This civilization, which contains works in all branches of the art, has a great richness for new studies and discoveries. The studies discussed in different geographies show that there is a unity and continuity in Turkish Art. The most competent and beautiful examples of various branches of the art, such as architecture, architectural ornamentation (tile, hand-craft, stone, wood, stucco), textiles (carpet, rug, fabric), book arts (calligraphy, gilding, miniature, binding), metal and glass emerge with different characteristics in all periods. The geometric, herbal or figurative ornamentations discussed in these works show a rich diversity, but they also emphasize an integrity and a continuity, which form the rings of a chain in Turkish Art.

In this book, the studies about the pre-Islamic Turkish Art, Seljuk and Ottoman periods are discussed in a wide range, and are evaluated with new research and perspectives.
